Searching for MP3's with Napster
Once you have setup Napster, start it by double clicking on the Napster desktop icon. On the mainscreen will be several 'tabs' where you access the various options of Napster. To search for a song, go to the search tab:
- Artist: Type in the name of the artist to the best of your recolection. You might try just the last name or just the first name. After a few uses, you'll become a pro at using the search function to find what you want. Usually the problem is you find too many songs and will have to carefully refine your search. Remember, this is a keyword search function just like the big search engines, so you'll have to think in terms of keywords and not some question. Think, Less is more.
- Title: To get started, try a few searches with just one or two words of the title. You'll soon figure out how to narrow down your results.
- Mis-spellings: Try common misspellings of the title song you are looking for or artist. Misspellings are very common on Napster.
- After clicking 'find it' on any search, you will be returned with a list of matches. Just double click on anything that looks interesting to start downloading.
